Default Reuse Gasket??

Bassani pipes are going on this weekend, but they didn't come with any type of new gasket for the connection at the head. Bike only has 1,800 miles on it...OK to just reuse the stock gaskets? If not, just grab a new, generic set from the dealer??

That would be a no. Ive reused old ones after removing my exhaust and putting it back on without any leaks but if your vhanging your exhaust you would definitly want new gaskets. Now you need to decide if you need tapered or square gaskets.

I went from stock to my V&H pro-pipe and reused the gaskets with no issue.
I had to take off the exhaust a couple more times and after that I changed the gaskets. If you do change out the gaskets, stick with the stock tapered kind, I tried the other kind and they leaked. Those stink, but are easier to install but if they leak, who cares how easy they are to install.

I agree, why take a chance for something relatively insignificant in price.

Don't disagree; just asking. $10 is $10 that could be spent elsewhere if it's totally not worth it though. Many things are like that.

Use whatever Bassani recommends.

A couple more data points here of what I have learned.

The SE gaskets are easier to install but leaked. Waste of money. I think I read a solution is to double up on them. Eh.

The tapered gaskets work great BUT are not easy to install. Yes, only $10 but if you can't install they are a waste. So...I bought the install tool for $45 (Jim's).

So to do a complete job, get the tapered gaskets and an install tool so you do it right once. But like I said, I reused the stock gaskets the 1st time installing new exhaust and there were no leaks. My "policy" is that I reuse them once. Then after that I replace. But everybody is different...

I've never had a leak and use SE gaskets on all 3 bikes.

My stock exhaust header had tapered flanges. When I purchased my Bub7 pipes the flanges were squared so I switched to the SE gaskets and they worked great
