Default Burned boot rubber on Vance & Hines black exhaust

Recently bought a 09 Crossbones with Vance & Hines black exhaust pipes. Previous owner's old lady rested her boot on the hot pipes. I called V & H and asked if there was anything I could do and he suggested I buy new ones. Real helpful. Anybody have an idea? I can't be the only one to have run into this problem. If they were chrome it wouldn't be a big deal.

I use harley wheel cleaner on my blk pipes and small rubber scuffs, keep rubbing hard and small it will slowly come off, use thumb nail as it softens.

Oven cleaner works on chrome pipes I know. Not sure on black ones though.

To get the rubber off you may end up rubbing through the ceramic coating. If this happens you have 2 options, either buy a replacement heat shield from V&H as they suggested, or find a powder coater in your area that offers ceramic coating and have it re-coated in black ceramic. Going the latter route, the finish may not match exactly and if you are like me that would drive me crazy. That being said, I would buy the replacement shield from V&H and wait the 6-8 weeks for them to 'build it'...
