Default New pipes

I tried asking this in the tuning section without much of a response. I've changed from V&H big radius 2-2 to big shots staggered. Would these pipes be fairly similar in flow, or does it still need a tuneup?

You should be good to go. No tuning needed. If you go from a 2-2 set up into a 2-1 or vice versa, then you'd need to re-tune.

I would certainly swap over as is, but see how it runs with the new pipes. If it gets up to anything different then consider retuning it.

So I got the new pipes on and seems to run fine although I haven't gone very far. I can't seem to get the front pipe 100% sealed. The rear is fine but the front won't quite seal around the upper nut area (10 or 11 o'clock position). I've used 2 different gasket sets with the same result in exactly the same spot. It's not much of a leak, but I'm just wondering how much is too much?

Thanks in advance, Matt.

P.S. Did I mention the pipes are from a 2012, 103 Wide Glide, and mines an 06 Softy.

My super chips tuner has a radius program, but not a BSS. The Radius program works well with the BSS. So you should be well to go.

I doubt that since you're trying to fit the exhaust on your Soft-tail that were made for a Dyna platform that they'll fit up correctly like they should. Best to find the correct set of pipes.

Damn. I was afraid of that! My local Harley 'experts' told me they should bolt up the same at motor, it's just mounting bracket that would be very different. Also I modified the Dyna bracket so it's mounted to the trans instead of the frame. Would that also be a problem on a Softail? I really do like these pipes better, they seem to have better low range torque than the big radius, but I may have to change back and accept defeat!! Thank for the replies, Matt.

You can try removing the rear support bracket and loosely fit the head pipe to the head and slowly snug each bolt while supporting the pipe with your left hand to ensure a good fit at the head and then febricate a new support without moving pipe..... Should work fine..
