Need tune after installing true duals?
Hey guys
I went out looking for an 09 & up and wound up coming home with and 08. I was trying to avoid the 07/08's because of the heat and gearing issues.
Anyway, here I am trying to deal with the heat issue without spending thousands.
It is an 08 Ultra with HD SE air filter and SE slip ons. I have installed RJS originals and the help deflect some of the heat but I am still getting a lot of heat around my right calf area, I'm guessing from the crossover pipe.
I'm not worried about performance increases. The bike is fast enough for me. I just want to be able to enjoy it in all traffic situations.
If I put on Rinehart True duals will I need to get a tuner? If I need to get a tuner do I then need to get it dyno'd?

Yes you will need a tuner; not only will this correct the super lean a/f, it will also cool the bike down a little. As far as a dyno tune, it depends on what tuner you are using and if you want the optimum performance out of the bike. A Power Commander or alike will be fine with a canned map modified to your bike. A Direct Link tuner or alike will need* a dyno tune....IMO, your bike in its present state would greatly benefit from a tuner/tune...

You will need a tuner, There is a good one in your area, F.T F Performance in Levittown Pa. Chuck is the best around I think.

I just put Rinehart true duals w 4" mufflers and a cobra stage 1 a/c on my son's 07 Ultra. He bought a tuner from a sponsor here on the forum they were running a 50% off special for their tuner (Superchip vigilante) worked awesome!!!! In fact I liked it so much I bought the classic duals w 4" mufflers for my 2013 Ultra and also got a Superchip but I went with a big sucker stage 1 on mine. Wow what a difference. You will love it!!!! No more heat

Rinehart duals
You will definitely need a tune after installing the Rineharts. They will help with the heat problem because there is no cat in the system. I have them on my 07 with the SERT. If you don't want to spend the cash for the Harley tuner and then dyno time on top of it, your dealer may have a map they can download that will get you very close, or try a Dynapro Vision tune. A co-worker of mine just installed one on his 12 Ultra with an air cleaner and slip ons and it works well for him. A good tune will make your bike run like you can't believe.
