2013 ULTRA. I removed my cat today and am wondering if I could weld a plate on the cross over and just run it as a cheap 2-1 or will it be too restrictive cutting the exhaust down too small??

 

I have a Supertrapp 2-into-1 and the point where the two pipes come together is a lot bigger than just one pipe! So that's the 'approved' way of doing it, although in the distant past Harley used the same size of pipe for their 2-into-1. On a modern motor, which gives significantly more performance than those older bikes, I suspect your idea may indeed prove restrictive. Now a system like my Supertrapp.......

 

yep yep I knew at best it would be cheating i was just looking to see while I removed the cat if I could get anymore outta it till I did a full exhaust this winter.
Thanks for the reply I was beginning to think I was the only one that could see the post. I realize it was far fetched but thought maybe someone did something similar and would chime in.

 

I'm not sure one muffler would flow enough either, thinking about it. They are made as pairs, to share the total flow. You can always try it out of course!
