Default Cheap Exhaust Gasket Install Tool

While preparing to do a stage 1 on my Ultra I stopped by the local HD to pick up a couple of Exhaust Gaskets. The parts counter man told me I'd also need the Harley Davidson Exhaust Gasket Install tool. I ask if I could see the tool. He went and got one and showed it to me. I said gee that looks just like a flat washer with handle in the center, the counter man agreed. I passed on purchasing one even though they were having a big sale on them. I went home got a big flat washer a long treaded thin toggle bolt and made a Hill Billy exhaust gasket installer tool. Total cost free as I had all the stuff in my junk box. I cleaned the exhaust ports put a little lube on the gaskets, got them started into the exhaust ports, took my tool and tapped the stud with a little brass hammer and low and behold they were installed. I installed a new exhaust system which had be de-catted. All went well with no exhaust leaks. The CFR's sound great. Video will follow when I complete the project. I am attaching a photo of my Hilly Bill tool.

I use an old piece of PVC pipe about 4" long and push them in by hand. Fits perfect.

Never heard of even needing one to install them. I push them in and let the header do the rest. I do come back after 10 complete heat cycles and retorque the nuts. They usually need it. Maybe if I used the tool the retorque wouldn't be needed.

Agreed. I just pushed mine in with my fingers. I didn't know there was a tool for them.

My gasket install tool doubles as a dick skinner and booger picker. It's like my own personal multi tool.

Just another name for your hands.

One of my dad's favorite sayings when I was screwing with his stuff, "get yer little dick skinners off that".

The term could also be used for a couple gals I dated in high school that had braces. Ouch!

My dad use to say " damn son, shut your jibs"
Jibs. I assume lips. Never heard of a jib anyplace else.
