Default V & H Exhaust

I purchased this bike last year (2010 FXDWG Dyna Wide Glide) and it has the stage one kit upgrade with Screaming Eagle Slip on Pipes. I want to upgrade to V & H.
Vance & Hines Twin Slash Round Slip-On Mufflers

Does anyone out there have experience with these mufflers per sound, installation problems, mapping issues, power and fuel loss etc. I feel like a kid with training wheels when it comes to the SE pipes.
If I have to purchase the Mapping Module it will have to come later.

If the bike already has a "Stage1" then it more than likely had a dealer installed download so you should be okay to go if you're just going to change out the mufflers.
The V&H's will sound some what deeper, installation is pretty much straight forward. Loosen 2 or 3 bolts take off old pipes put new pipes on then tighten the bolts. Should not be any mapping issues fuel or power loss.

I installed the same exhaust on my 14 Fat Bob today. It's relatively warm here in NY (53) so this was the perfect opportunity. Install is straight forward, nothing complicated, but the stock pipes were a pain to get off. Nice deep sound, not too loud. The next mild day I will be installing a Nightrider FL-VIED to adjust the F/A ratio and a DK Custom 587 air filter.

Default Exhaust pipes

Have a 09 Harley Trike. Same set up as a FL. Put on V&H Slash Cut Slip Ons, in 09 they were 2 1/2 baffles. Lost a lot of low end torque. So here is the story:
First put in Headquarters Cams 0034's (same as 500's)
The intake 20/36 was very close to the SE-204 cams and I downloaded the 009Sat.001 program. Since that time had it dynode and the low end torque did not come in until 3500 (99lbs). So, I contacted Jim Maybeck of Big City Thunder Baffles and being an old drag racer like myself ordered a set of his #2003's. They go into the head pipe just ahead of the muffler. These patented little baffles take care of the anti-reversion and scavenging of the exhaust gases so anything you do after the head pipe is just for sound cosmetic purposes. So I took the baffle out of the muffler and cut off all the baffle except for the doughnut and put in a piece of 2" pipe all the way through. Picked up everything at Auto Zone for $22. Also picked up 2 reducers 2"x 2 1/4. The torque is a lot better now and sounds great. Will be putting in the XH-66 cams from Headquarters and the torque should be over 100 lbs from 2000 all the way to 5000....just what my heavy hot rod needs. Hope this helps out!
