Default Switching back to stock carb from s&s

When I bought my 1996 king it had an s&s carb installed. I don't like the way the throttle feels compared to the smooth soft stock CV carb , I don't have that much in the ways of performance I have samson pipes , and ev27. I was wondering how difficult it is to switch back to CV carb. Is it as simple as sliding ss off and putting CV on? Also what's a fair price for a good shape CV carb and where can I find one. And most important question what size jets should I look at

Thanks in advance guys

Smooth as in the way the grip turns or smooth response? Maybe just need some tuning? Or cable isnt adjusted nice and binding up?

Manifold is different for the two carbs, no? The CV carb (and the Mikuni HSR) is a spigot mount, while the S&S is a flange mount.

Air cleaner is different, too.

CV's are junk, I've got a pile of CV carbs in a box in the back of my garage...I can't give them away.
Tune up the S&S, it's a far better carb than a CV.
Having said that, I prefer the Mikuni HS42 over just about anything out there these days.

I don't like the ss because the throttle requires more effort to twist , the cables aren't bound cuz I tested it by taking the cables out of bike and just running them direct and it was same. Unless there is someway to reduce the effort ?

Lighter return spring.

The slightly stronger return spring is one of the many reasons I always liked my S&S carbs, even the HS42 that I have now is better than stock as far as the throttle return spring is concerned.

How much effort can it take? If it's really stiff, there's something wrong.

Maybe you need to tone up your hands and wrists.

I'll pay shipping on the box of them if you really want to give them away..

Like it was stated earlier manifold is different, as are the cable lengths, and you will also need a new air filter, bracket, and cover.

I felt no difference in effort from my s&s on old motor to my mikuni on new. Maybe unhook cables and check the motion of the throttle lever? If it binding up tear into it and see why. You shouldnt be straining to twist a throttle

I had a throttle get stiff once.
It was caused by a bunch of junk building up on the handle bar between the bar and the grip.
Cleaned the bar and all was good again.
