No chance of this thread becoming a sticky now, without an edit...

Why does it need an edit? re-assembly is just the opposite of what I posted. And the service manual tells you how.

It was a joke, I wasn`t referring to your postings, it was in reference to a post (not by me) which has since been edited.

Not pointing any fingers, but it was post 30....

Let`s just say it was a bit... off topic.

Just had a similar job done on my 2000 FLSTS. I converted to a Baker N1 Drum, Pawl, and billet shift forks. 2 Boss Performance in Muskego, Wi. did the work, and the job was fabulous. I love the new shift pattern, Neutral is always an easy find. N down and five up. I also converted to a juice clutch at the same time.

Default Pawl Spring Issue?

Would a pawl spring cause the heel/toe shifter to drop or go limp so to speak while the engine is off? My buddy has an Ultra Classic and his shifter just drops and does not return when the engine is running but when the engine is off he gets tension and can shift gears.

Does this sound like a pawl spring issue? Any help would be great as I am lost in the sauce dude.

Thanks

Default Same Situation as you, but with an Ultima 6 Speed Transmission

Thanks for your post. This was the most helpful post as I dissembled my 2008 Sucker Punch Sally 66 Bobber's 4" belt drive, clutch hub, etc. and basically have my bike in 100 pieces on my work bench.

You got your replacement parts from Baker, who would you have called if you had an Ultima Transmission? It has two serial numbers 070920B30 and UJ710450 by the logo. I think it is 96-674 from Midwest Motorcycle Supply. You have to be a dealer to buy from them. I don't know any dealers around San Antonio, TX. local shops sound very confused when asked if they can order this part for this transmission.

I have that tranny also and I also had to replace the pawl spring as well. The oem worked for me as well as the seals. I called Ultima or Jireh and they gave me the part numbers and they matched oem. So i got them from the stealer... On the shifter pawl I actually filed the edges of it where the pawl spring mounts so it don't cut into the spring again. Poor design....

I have looked all over Ultima's web site (no phone number listed) and the best I can gather Midwest MC Supply is their exclusive dealer. Midwest does not sell the the public, only dealers who have applied.

I would be glad to pay dubble for the shift pawl assembly, seals and bearing if I find where to order it. Can you PM Jireh's phone number?
