Default tick tick tick after new cam on 95 rk

I recently tryed a couple of Andrews cams in my 95 road king (24000 mi) I replaced the Ina bearing and breather gear lifters crane cams ez pushrods and all seals and gaskets. I first tried an ev27 and after that had a slight tick barely louder than stock.sounded like it was from the front rocker on the left side but can be herd from all around the bike. I didn't like the lack of bottom end in the 27 so I opted for the ev13. I once again ventured into the nosecone to swap ( .018 end play and used stock cam gear on both BTW) after I finished I fired it up and the tick was louder. Still from the same place but louder I have ridden abt 50 mi since then and it runs fine pulls good and is a joy to ride except for the tick I can hear it over rc slipons with cobra duals and a big sucker. Mostly at 50mph or less over that all I hear is wind. I'm not sure the brand of the lifters because they were bought in a cam kit from north shore but are deff not big axle lifters. I was thinking I may have gotten a bad lifter that's not taking up lash like it should. I have checked the tubes and they don't seem to be hitting although the front exhaust rod is quite close and I adjusted the rods 3 full turns from 0 lash so I'm thinking I'm at about .120 on them. I run amsoil 20-50 and have since I bought it. I am kinda annoyed by the sound but not horrified of it it does it at idle and on up as far as I rev it but it is a little louder when hot. I know cams with more slope tend to tick but this seems a little to much. So does anyone have any ideas o. Where I should check next or just chime in as to how you guys have hushed your fussy evos. Any thoughts suggestions or previous experiences are appreciated.

My 95 Ultra with SE-4 cam and high comp pistons has the same tick. It also gets a little louder once it's hot. I chased that tick for weeks. New lifters, readjusting the pushrods, checking for exhaust leak. Couldn't find anything out of whack, so I finally gave up and just let it tick. Been 19,000 miles since I installed the cam and pistons and it runs great, just ticks. I've gotten to where I hardly notice it anymore.

Sounds like you have done it by the book, a couple of things to try that may help. There is a stronger oil pump spring made by Baisley that will put slight more oil pressure into those lifters that will help, the front lifter tick is a oil pressure issue. On aggressive Woods cams it is common to set the lifter depth to .150 to tame the noise down and it does work, have ran Woods cams for years and the most finicky.

You might try the above 2 items and straight 50 weight helps cushion the lifter recovery if needed.

Google Harley Baisley spring, Baisley website only showing TC but is was common for a Evo

depends on who you ask. imo if you have to go that much deeper to get rid of the tick something else is wrong. Harley lifters have .200 of travel the spot you want to be is in the middle I never go more than .120 any more than that your oil flow to the head will drop. if you have new lifters there is really only one thing it could be. poor oil pressure to the lifters. either your oil pump is weak or you have a clogged passage or you lifter block clearance is out of spec.

Yes no problem. Synthetic has more of a tendency to weep thru gaskets where dyno does not.

Thanks for the input guys I'll try to find the spring. How much of a PITA is that to put in? And I may try another flat or two on the lifters I went 19 on the old style
