copper spray gasket sealer

Should I use permatex copper spray on the base and/or head gaskets?
1989 EVO Got it disassembled and just about ready to re-assemble.
Help!

I didn't when I rebuilt mine in February and everything is fine.
I used Cometic gaskets though.

I wouldn't put ANYTHING on the head gaskets that may give them an uneven surface, but the base gaskets? It can't hurt anything at all... can only help.

Permatex gasket sealer is great stuff to use on paper gaskets to almost ensure against leaks , the problem is getting the treated gasket off again if you do a future repair . The product is super sticky and a chemical softener is usually needed to remove it and the old gasket .
DO NOT apply anything to the two cyl./head gaskets !!!
