Yes I too found some like new lower legs for under $50, adapters were about $100. I can spend what I saved on some new fork bushings etc.. With the pre Brembo 4 piston calipers, rebuilt fork, and new lower legs , should look good, and stop better.

Will the 2000 up sliders work with a 95 axle ?

 

No. The right side is larger to allow for the 1" axle.

 

I have the before and after axles right here! The right side of the earlier 3/4" axle is 7/8" OD and the 1" axle is 1 1/8" OD.

 

So the left (small) side is the same ? Would it be possible to turn a 1" axle down to 3/4 " to fit the older wheel or will I have to change the wheel?

 

I'm thinking maybe a bushing on the big end . I could drill the axle and pin it. Any input appreciated .

 

The bike is on its wheels at present, so I can't quickly and directly compare sizes (the big ends were easy!). Perhaps next week, if nobody else can answer your query.

 

I'll chime in.. Obviously, I cant guarantee you wont run into issues, but yes, you can turn it down if you'd like.. If your bent on keeping the wheel, I like the bushing idea better.. The left side will be fine.. I had to turn my 1" down for the speedo drive, worked well..

 

I think you're using Brembos though aren't you?
