Thank You Texas for that correction .

I was referring to the other small 1/4- 20 engine bolts that secure everything except the damned tappet blocks that are oem 1/4- 12 point ?!

Im in Canada and apperantly we dont have any 12 point sockets here ?!
Im going to replace the oem screws with other .
This $ 3.00 socket crap has held me up for three weeks .?!

If you want I can mail you one of your choice.

Hell any thing you can't get locally is easily mailed.
Just ask Spanners.

BTW it wasn't meant to be a correction but more of an observation.

Come to think of it, I think all box wrenches are 12 pt. Have one of those?

Sorry for showing the frustration here but Man , what a pita for simple bolts .
Could use a simple box wrench but not enough room .
Gave up trying to find a simple 12 point socket after visiting every supplier here and even flagging down a Snap On truck ., no go .
Have purchased a set of stainless socket head bolts to replace the oems.
Will try that next.

Thanks johnjzjz , found a bolt supplier here and picked up some 1" and 3/4" long 1/4 20 stainless socket head bolts . I had to purchase both lengths to try to fit as the oem Harley bolts are 7/8 " long and apperantly that is a big head scratcher for the industrial bolt suppliers .??? Go figure with that one as i suppose Harley just has to be different etc. etc.
I even tried purchasing ss washers to fit the countersunk tappet block holes to just make things a little better with torque readings etc. but No Way , they are not available . What a pita for us Canadians here in no parts land.
Im getting to old for this **** ., at least we have good beer .

If you want to use those bolts just put a 1/4-20 nut on them and cut off 1/8". When you take the nut off it will clean your threads. Use the 1" bolts by the way.

I recommend you use a grinder to put a chamfer on the end before you take the nut off.

I've yet to get into the evo motor but my Pan uses a bastard 1/4-24 thread. Not easy to find. UNC is 1/4-20, UNF is 1/4-28... Harley opted for the 1/4-24. Thanks, HD... I don't remember what my shovels were...
