here is a pic of a stock 83 FLHT...not sure if they are the same...but looking at these pics I would say it is...still have that frame section lying around if you need repair parts.

Kino, I think that's pretty similar to how it is on my '94. The chrome strut covers go over the top of that and hide the ugly!

Yea ditto on my 95, someone wanted to be able to bolt on newer accessories and changed the rear tubes. Just find the chrome covers. Looks like they did a nice job welding them in.

the covers are part # 47551-79A & 47552-79A if you want to put bags back on it your going to need a lot more than that

http://www.ebay.com/itm/HARLEY-DAVID...4734bc&vxp=mtr

this is what its suppose to look like from 1981 to mid 90's you need to do some fab work to put it back so you can mount the bags the rear plate mount slides into the tubes that have been cut off they are held in by rivets

DGyver and Tom1984,

Would it be better (meaning easier and and CHEAPER) to leave as is? Or, if he's gonna have to fab new brackets or rework the welds for older, original stuff, should Kino just go for 1997 - 2008 parts as they are literally all over ebay and craig's??
Just wondering out loud???
