Question.
'92 heritage. 50,000 miles. Just put in CV performance setup . Now, after she sits for a couple of days, she's a bitch to start up: coughs, spits. After I do get her started & warmed up, she runs like a dream, top to bottom and will start in a heartbeat. Any suggestions as to the reason for starting hard?
We went for a ride yesterday out in the country. The roads aren't to bad out there. My buddie did hit a pothole though. (I think it was the only one we saw) Bent his wheel but he kept her up. Didn't blow the tire. Limpin & thumpin all the way home.

2 things are in play at cold start up - the choke - and the low speed jet -
1= does the choke seem to pull as much as it did before the work on the carb - and PITA you will need to check if the chokes plastic nut has been tightened to the carb, if its not tight it can cause an air bleed off
2 - in the carb bottom the low speed jet probably is one size too small - sooo if you take it the carb back off and check the choke nut and its tight or not i would go up one on the low speed and see if its better starting - low speed could be a 40 install a 42 if its a 42 put in a 44 or 45 kind of thing

What's the idle speed look like when it does start? That can tell you something about the enricher. I switched from the butterfly to the CV and cold starts in the winter can be difficult. It was the same with the old butterfly carb.
I had a 1991 Heritage with an S&S. It always started. I once rode out in 14 degrees and it started right up. Some days I wish I had gotten the S&S for my current bike.
