Dang, you guys have me nervous. It's difficult to get an accurate measurement with the primary cover on. I'm trying to do this adjustment through the inspection opening.

I guess I'm going to get it up to temp and check the tension again.

Dan has it, Texas. My earlier diplomatic reply was to skirt around confirming that I reckon the primary chaincase does indeed expand (along with everything else), with a nett effect of tightening the chain. That or there are dark and evil forces at work.....

No one said the frame expanded along with the chain case.
Until Dan that is.

Dans complete explanation makes sense.

It is going to be interesting checking it out to see if he is right.

Of course I have to have a running bike to do that and I am still waiting on parts!!!!! DAMN IT!!!

This is what I was told by the internet. And everyone knows you can't put anything up that not true. The reason for adjustment not for expanding of metal it is for expanding of a worm hole that will make you and your bike disappear lil food for thought be careful......

I must have missed it.

Personally I really want to see the frame stretch by 1/8" or more.
I figure it would take at least that much to affect the chain so much.

Not really. Just moving the adjuster one notch makes a big difference in chain tension.

I'll be glad when you get your parts so you have something better to focus on.

Everything expands, but I think everyone has missed the obvious...the chain adjuster shoe has a chain rubbing on it...the adjuster probably expands more than anything else in there.
