Default Carb question for upcoming cam swap

OK, 97 FXD.

All parts are on the way, or already here. EV27 cam, SE coil, SE wires, S+S pushrods, Hylift lifters, SE ignition module (to be changed for an adjustable one later once pipes and headwork is done, maybe next year). What I have now is a stock bike with a KN filter, and long straight pipes that I put Big City Thunder baffles in.

I have never touched the carb. Plugs look good and it runs fine except for some hard starting when the temps get low.

I will replace the carb to manifold rubber and both seals. I also need to put in a new choke cable unless someone can tell me hos to replace the plastic adjustment wheel.

Now, I have three options. 1, use CV Performance innards, 2. install a Thunderslide kit, or 3. just rejet and adjust the mixture. In that I have just about used up my bike improvement fund for this spring, I think I may just rejet and adjust. Opinions on the other two options are welcome though.

Jets, Best I can figure I should begin with a 45 slow jet/pilot jet, and a 180 main.

Thoughts and advice of the board are appreciated. Thanks guys.

45 slow and 180 main should be perfect honestly. I put the CV kit in my bike.. have yet to try it out yet, but was running a 45 idle when it was stock, and the PO put in a 190 main jet trying to cure an intake leak and I didn't notice it when I put in the 45... stupid me. Anyways, the plugs were a little dark but that was it.

I would ship the CV off to Dale at Killer Cycle and have him rebuild it, polish and rejet it. Or, do a core exchange.

You will need a new choke cable, there is no repair for the adjustment wheel.

Get a couple of diferent size slow and main jets (45/46 & 180/185) and a sporty N65 or CVP velocity needle. Clean it real good, swap the needle, and re-jet it (start w/ 45 & 180). Verify float level and accel pump/ vacuum slide functions. Adjust idle mixture as needed. GTG.
