Saw this ad on my local Craigslist. Know nothing about the bike, person posted and NOT associated in any way but 5800 sure seems like a very good price?

Seems like most I see for sale in my neck of the woods (SF Bay Area) are usuallu a coupke thou more.

Yeah definitely Kali plate. Bikes is in Hollister, about 25 minutes south of me.
In our dear Republik of Kali you cannot bring a bike into this state from out of state unless it has 7500 miles on it. What was happening before the law was enacted was that folks were buying out of state in order to beat the Kali EPA standards. Not owning a new bike I do not know what emission standards are Kali vs thre rest of the US but there was a time that Kali had those stupid evap cannisters on them and it was the first thing that most riders took off and flung in the nearest dumpster.

Most nice bikes listed on my local CL are way over priced and never sale. IMO $5800 is a tad high for that bike to actually sale...5k would be top dollar for me.
Example...this bike have been on there a few years:http://memphis.craigslist.org/mcy/4182671656.html
Same is true of Ebay...90% of the bikes listed do not sale....the ones that do are really cheap most of the time...check "completed listings"...only the ones with green prices sold

If that one is solid and not to high of mileage I would say it was a very good buy. You just don't find good clean EVO's for much less no matter what year they are. At least in my neck of the woods. I paid $7,100 for my 99 Softail Custom 4 years ago because it was exactly what I wanted and had all of the things done to it that I would have had to do to a different one. It also had 17,000 miles on it without a scratch on it anywhere. I have 41,000 on it now and am super happy with it.

Anything with less than 7500 miles is considered "new" by our state. Exceptions are made for out of state residents moving into the state and military. IF the bike is 50-state EPA certified it can be registered if all the required tags etc are in place.
