Thanks for pics. Is pic.2 taken with your bike/tranny level and is that the Better Lever you have on yours.?

 

I got tired of mine coming loose, the design is crap!
I put on a better lever, they are not cheap but worth every penny.
They are a pain to put on the twin cams, but easer than replacing the shaft.
The web page has videos.
The guy designed then had them manufactured that alone gets my vote.
They are stainless steel, way too pretty to hide.
This is the permanent fix.

 

Pic 2 is with the camera level to the bike and that is just the stock lever.

The splines are pretty coarse so its real easy to get it right from the pics.
