trace the regulators wire to what ever it goes to be it a fuse or braker - take it off and charge the battery than leave it the time frame it goes dead, i think you will find it still has a full charge

I did call a few Harley Dealers and obviously they suggested they diagnose the problem. A stator and regulator is going to run 350 to 400 for both. Another 315 for labor to replace both as I hear the wire is the only PITA to do on the Regulator but I hear the Stator is much more involved. That sound about right. If I have to pull apart a ton to replace the stator I would prefer them do it.

It depends on what you mean by pulling apart a ton.
You will need a 1 1/2" and a 1 3/16" socket to do the job.
A strong impact gun helps.
It is a about a 3 hour job (double that for someone doing it for the first time).

BTW if you only have to replace the regulator (as John suggests) then the job only takes a few minutes.
I have to agree with everyone else.
Get a multimeter and do Dr. Hess's test.
That will allow you to make an informed decision on what to do.

Yes I am not afraid of doing the reg. I have a multi meter and I printed out the directions. I hope that's what it is. If it is the Stator then 3 to 6 hours for me to do it vs 170 bucks for them is an easy call for me. My biggest problem is getting the bike to start now. Been sitting for awhile and would not start last night. That test requires several starts and I do not know if I can get more than one before it starts to drag down the battery.
