Scarlett has a "dead" spot in the throttle when I'm sitting at a stop and "blip" it.

Sometimes she pops and dies too.

That's the pump that squirts fuel when I twist the throttle, right? I looked into the carb the other and twisted and it squirted. How do you tell if it's "bad?"

Idle jet requires removal of the carb ,correct? What size should it be?

It may just need adjusting

Depends on what year your carb was made.
Post 2004 (like mine) I have had good luck with the .0295 jet.
Pre 2004 you have to ask Dr Hess.

You don't have to remove the carb just the bowl.

You have a S&S carb, right?

You might just need a pump adjustment, or in your case, you might have something like this going on.

Last week I repaired an accelerator pump on a super E
The carb was 2 months old.
10% ethanol gas was used since the carb was installed,,,,but,,,
also four tankfulls with SEAFOAM added was used right after the carb install.(bike owner loves seafoam too)

The diaphragm was ate up, and when it started letting gas up to the bellows, it got that too.

coincidence?

I have a pre 2004 S&S also, mine is happiest at .0265 on the idle jet. As to your accel pump, I agree with Schnex3x, it probably just needs adjusted. Does she run fine all other times?

Dang, that hurt......I only used SEAFOAM in her ONCE, and it was 1/4 cup to a FULL tank of gas.......

Well, tonight, I tried an experiment. She was running rougher than usual, so I barely, and I mean BARELY pulled the enrichener and she smoothed right out.....she was warm BTW

What does THAT tell me? Running too lean?

Yeah, that would point to lean on the idle circuit. Is this a relatively new development? I mean, Scarlett ran well untill recently?
