exactly. i gotta pull the enrichener **** 75% to start her on the 4th of July or the 4th of January. doesnt matter when she's cold so goddamned cold. thought of the 2 music threads.
i used to leave her open a crack but i finally did the base gaskets and really scrubbed the carby ****'n'span clean then baselined it per s&s website then of course i adjusted to my setup.
very easy and i would bet some of resident experts would do it the same way. all bikes are setup differently so the only way, the only way, is to trial and error it until youre comfy. the accelerator setting was a bit difficult as you gotta get on the bike and the throttle a few times to truly dial her in.

Yea, It pretty much just started. I'm wondering if going from totally open pipes to stock pipes had something to do with it.

I don't have to pull the enricher at all to start mine but I do have to feather the throttle a little until she gets warmed up. What TD is experiencing, we first have to figure out if she's set wrong or does it have a mechanical cause; ie bad tank liner and petcock screen, fuel line disintegrating, transfer ports clogged...

I would think that going from open pipes to stock pipes would have the opposite effect. Your new corked pipes would cause less scavenging than the open pipes causing her to run more rich, but my theory here could be wrong. I think you've got another issue going on.

My first step would be drain the bowl and catch the fuel in a small cup, is there any debris in it? Then I would blow out all the jets and passages, noting the jet sizes, reassemble and see how she runs.

S&S carb right?

Go on their website. They have awesome videos that show you how to adjust your idle speed, mixture, and accelerator pump. And what you're describing, the hesitation, definitely sounds like a poorly adjusted accelerator pump.

Very simple. I used the videos and they worked like a charm for me. Also shows you how to rejet if need be.

I wound up going up one size on the intermediate jet based on their jetting video. Livened her up a little bit and smoothed her out between 2000 and 2600 rpm if I recall correctly.

I know some people on this forum aren't fans of the S&S carb but I love mine!

I love S&S carbs so much I bought the engine attached to it!

TD you may simply have water in the float bowl, causing your problem. Take it off and take a look. One of my BMWs would routinely collect a spoonful in each carb over a period of a few months, so it became a service routine for me. Condensation inside the gas tank accumulates and pools, going down the hose to the carb.
