Default Quick & Cheap Speaker Cover Replacement

I lost my rear speaker cover while riding a few weeks ago on 1989 Electraglide Ultra Classic and wanted to replace it. The part is no longer produced or sold by HD or in the aftermarket that I could find.

My fix:
1) Ordered speaker cover cloth from Amazon for $12.64 (enough material to cover probably 10 motorcycle speaker covers).
Amazon.com : Parts Express Speaker Grill Cloth Black 36x 70 - Inch Wide : Electronics Amazon.com : Parts Express Speaker Grill Cloth Black 36x 70 - Inch Wide : Electronics

2) Couple of large zip ties and scissors to stretch, secure, and cut the speaker cloth.

Pull off the speakers. There are white plastic retainers that just pop out and can be reused. Don't just pull out the retainer itself, pull out the entire speaker cover (4 white plastic retainers I believe total).

3) Wrap the covers in material, cinch together in the back, twist really hard, secure with a big 'ol zip tie, and cut material tight to zip tie with scissors.

4) Pop back on the bike.

Good to go... we'll see how they hold up

Nice job! Glad to see you didn't get washed away. Too bad about Boulder.

Are those stock size (diameter) speakers? If so, I have the CHROME mounting rings off of an Ultra Classic that would make those speakers pop.

Lost my cover (flhtcu 1992) too today and will probably do the same trick.

Thanks for the advise.

Old post. BikeBandit road off into the sunset and never returned. He was doing those iron butt rides, I hope he didn't turn into a statistic.
