Default High Idle issue after riding and other issue on 91 dyna

Hi guys,
I have a 91 dyna sturgis. Sometimes when im riding at speeds of 85 or higher it will sometimes act like it gets no gas and loses power for a split second and then continues.
Also pretty consistently when I come to a stop after riding my bike will be at about 1500RPM and will sit there for sometime. It stays there until i do a quick rev and it will drop back down to the normal 1200rpm.

The high rev issue i thought I resolved when i replaced the VOES but it is back again.

I have replaced my spark plugs, i have checked my carb, made sure my plug wires are fully seated.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Loose intake manifold? Carb not seated properly? Sounds like vacuum to me. I've had both those problems, and my bike behaved just like you describe.

Ive taken the carb off a couple times and tried to make sure its seated in the manifold correctly also.

Replace the intake manifold seals, should replace them every few years anyway, they live in a harsh environment.

Check the manifold, maybe take it out and replace the gaskets with quality gaskets. The ones that comes in a kit are cheap.

whens the last time you lubed the cables ? for intake leaks a propain torch unlit bike running move it all around the intake area in idel changes you have a leak , when I lube my cables I also put a tad of axel grease in the hand control where the cable ends sets , not a lot just a small bit & spread it around the inside of the groove

I lubed my cables a couple months ago. Thats a good idea with the propane torch, Ill have to give it a try.

The suggestion for the propane, I think found the issue. When I put it to either side of wher e my carb goes into the manifold the idle would speed up.

Would that also cause my idle to be high after coming to a stop after riding?

Got to make sure it's not getting sucked into the A/C if it's an open type.
Sheild the backside of the A/C with some rags and check it again,
Or see if you can make the rpm's drop with some brake clean,
small squirts with the straw on the can is all it takes.
