97 RK Transmission oil
I just changed to a braided clutch cable and I was going to go ahead and change my tranny fluid. I have a 97 Road King and I was wondering what type of fluid to run in the tranny. From what I could find here on the forum, I think 75W 90 gear oil is the way to go. Does that need to be synthetic, or dino oil? Also, where on the dipstick indicates full, I only have a notch around my dipstick in one place. Above this, below this, or right at this mark? I have done several searches, but cannot find specific info. Thanks in advance for the help.

RE: 97 RK Transmission oil
75w90 gear lube or close to that and GL5 is just fine for it. It does not matter whether it is synthetic or regular. I personally have used 80w90 non-synthetic gear lube for thousands and thousands of miles on Harleys without any trouble whatsoever. I don't pay attention to the mileage on the transmission though...as I change it once a year anyways. It is always clean when I do change it as well.
Right off, I believe it takes almost one quart for the transmission and it is checked on the side stand. It should come to the mark on the dipstick.
