In the automotive world and heavy duty truck.........a oil leak on a rubber engine mount will break down the mount and cause premature failure. I've seen this many times over the years..........the rubber dam near looks like it is melting........you wipe it with your finger and it's as if you touched wet black paint........not an issue with a solid mount bike

3/4 turn after the seal makes contact.

The reason some filters seem to have been tightened by Godzilla is often because the installer failed to lube the seal.

If you put a filter on with a dry seal, it is going to be stuck, even if you don`t overtighten it. Guaranteed.

Don`t forget to lube the seal with oil (or dielectric grease, like Dow Corning 4).

The rubber used in engine mounts is not the same as the material used in making oil hoses...

If you get oil on the rubber mounts, wash it off with mild detergent and water, no solvents.

Not taking sides or making scientific claims. From my experience in the past as a cage mechanic, most cars/trucks that had oil leaks that would get on the engine/tranny mounts had severely deteriorated rubber isolators, and seemed to be premature considering age/mileage. Just sayin'...

Thanks for the answer.
I was wondering if it was a different compound.

Man I hate to burst your bubble but the only thing magic about Amsoil is its ability to find leaks.

I have an idea....let`s not turn this into an oil thread, starts off as a joke, but soon the lovers and haters of a certain oil turn it in to an argument...boring .
