Default Evo carb

Ok carb guys need some help. Got a 94 dyna that hasn't ran in 5 years. Got her cleaned up, and pulled the carb to clean it up. Man was it nasty! Anyway got her put back together fired her up and what do you know she is running! Problem is will not run unless choked and the overflow for the carb is steadily leaking gas! Is it getti g to much fuel? I know I know I need to rebuild carb but for right this minute just trying to get running. Thanks for the help!

Ill take a stab.

Float is stuck.....tap it with the handle of a screwdriver...it may let loose.
That is if it was replaced correctly.

When I had the carb apart the float was moving freely on its own. Update took the bike off the lift Nd rolled out into garage. Ran the bike, not over flowing now and just about got it running in about 1/3 choke.

If the bike is cold you will need the choke for a while till it warms up.

How long do you have to leave the choke on?

What jets are in the carb?

Im not sure what you got going....you say just about got it running...does it idle...or does it quit?

There is a idle adjustment screw on top...near the back...you should be able to see it...has a spring under it....kind of under the tank...hard to reach.
That adjusts the idle....depending on the carb...turn it right to speed up the idle.

Running with the choke on is normal if its still cold also....

5 years? Is the tank rusted? Mine sat for 4 before I got it, the tank was totally rusted out. I threw the original carb in the trash because I thought it was to blame.

Ok stock air cleaner, after market pipes ( not sure what brand), when I had the carb apart one jet said 165, not sure the other jet. Bike had been running about 10 minutes half choke but still wants to die when choke it off. You will have to excuse me I am not a carb guy just working on a bike for a friend

First thing would be to find out if it ever ran with that carb setup/jets etc. If yes then you need to determine if it is running rich or lean. Sounds like it is leaning out when you take the choke off. Leaking overflow indicates stuck float/needle and seat. All of these issues would make me pull the carb and do a complete rebuild. You need to figure out what jets over stock if any are needed for those pipes and go from there.

How was the seal between the carb and the intake?
