You're sticking with the stock pushrods? I'd just cut them out with bolt cutters and get some quality quick install pushrods, since you're throwing some money at it anyway. What's another $100? Apply the rocker box gasket money to the pushrods. I think the 60 pints of beer is a little much...

You say you're not much of a mechanic, so stick with the standard push rods, there's less scope for getting it wrong. Adjustable's are no better than the standard ones.

I completely agree and also...if fitting new lifters you don't need to pull all the rocker gear. Just the right hand side bolts on each set of rocker gear and slip the rocker shafts out (with jug at TDC compression). Then remove the rockers.

On reassembly the new lifters are still compressed and you can slip the shafts back in and re-torque the bolts before putting the mid and upper rocker covers back on.

As with all new lifters (regardless of assembly method) the bike will rattle horribly until the lifters have inflated under hydraulic pressure.
