Default Fitting 2010 Sportster Wheels on 91 FXR... Im trying like hell

I searched my butt off before posting this, and commented on a couple threads hoping to help those in similar situations but this is the run of it all, as it is going down.

How it started:

Me: Dude, can I fit sporty wheels on my FXR?
The super intelligent, harleys for a living "dude": Absolutely
Me: Cool.

Go buy Iron 883 wheels because the black 13 spoke Alloys with highlighted fins will look sick on the bike as I am building it.

bearings wont work...
FXR, 3/4" axle... Sporty, 25mm axle...

Me: Dear harley dealer, what do I do?
Dealer: Buy our $70 kit
Me: NO!

Buy All ***** Bearings for $14 each... Take wheels and bearings to machine shop...

Machine shop: needs a new bearing spacer
Me: Harley dealer, do you have this?
HD: not in that length, special order
Drag specialties: Yup, Part number 0222-0314 is a 6" x 3/4" that you cut to length
Me: Thank you

Me: funny, that hub doesnt look like its the same width, measure one, measure the other... FML!!!

Next step is to see if that machine shop is up to the task of matching the width and offset, while drilling and tapping the holes again, making a new bearing spot.

The pulley hole of FXR pulley is smaller than the race on the wheel, that will have to be opened up as well.

ME: The big question... How much will it cost?

To be continued on monday...

Sounds like you are having a lot of fun.

Just out of curiosity why do you want a sporty wheel on your FXR?

As for how much it will cost ask your machine shop.

I like the look of the 13 spoke and they are cheap as take off wheels...

It was a rhetorical question sir, keeping with the tone of the post. width discovery made after they closed, one wheel wasnt there you see... Pricing will be discussed monday, when I will shortly thereafter update.

There is a lot less complicated ways to fit those wheels.

Also A LOT easier option for putting 13 spokes would be sell what you have and find a set off 97-98 ish Dyna/Sportster. I have 98 Dyna 13 spokes on my Fxr , and you keep your pulley , rotor , and bearings.

Now if you are wanting to upgrade to sealed bearings you could find a set off a 99-2004. They have the same 52 mm OD bearings as your nightser wheels , but with a 3/4" ID. I would have to do a little digging in the garage , but you should be able to use the 99-04 bearings and spacer in your nightser wheels. As far as your rotor/pulley fitting to OD of the wheel lip a machine shop wouldn't charge more then an hour labor to open it to the correct size.

I'm in the process of putting a set of 08 super glide wheels on a 89 softail with an 07 V Rod front end so I've been playing the swap game as well.

You have no Idea how much I would love to step up to sealed bearings without all of this bull. At this point I wouldn't even mind a sealed bearing 7 spoke.
