I got the primary side tore apart on my 95 heritage to fix tranny seal leak, bike has been sitting for a couple months, noticed some oil dripping from the sprocket shaft /stator,took the stator rotor/shell off, cleaned off, the leak is coming out the shaft through the spacer not the seal, the service manual only shows one seal and it goes around the spacer, could the oil be seeping out because of sitting and building up in the crankcase, need some insight, how is there not a seal around the shaft?
Ya I was thinking the the same, just was wondering why there is no seal behind the splines on the sprockrt shaft,is it leaking because I have the compansator nut off, does it need to be tight to seal? is it normal for oil to build in the crankcase from sitting? never had oil shoot out after starting after sitting like the older bikes
The compensator nut being tight would help contain the oil but the real problem is that the oil level in there has come up because of wet sumping.
Perhaps you have been lucky that the oil level hasn't come up so high that the engine blows it out the breather.
Also, I'd take a close look at your case around the crankcase. I too have a95 heritage and discovered a crack on the outer lip (from 12o'clock to 5o'clock) while hunting a leak down. I hear its a notorious flaw
