I had never heard of it before today either.

FWIW I just looked in the '13 Road King manual and the stock chain tensioner looks a lot like the one in the link.

Everyone that has them raves about them and everyone that doesn't have them say they are an unnecessary toy.
Thought about them myself, but there are other things I want more.

I have an M6 that makes similar claims and certainly makes gear changes more pleasant, but yet another 'never heard of it'! I'd like to know in what way it is hydraulic.

It looks like theres a shock instead of a spring for tension.

Not hydraulic, but HD has an automatic tensioner that I believe comes on newer bikes but does work on our Evos.
Automatic Primary Chain Tension Adjuster-40063-05B
