I wouldn't use a car battery.
You know you need to put a full charge on the battery that fits in the bike so why would you hook up a car batter.
Besides the fact that car batteries have too many amps that is.
There's no such thing as too many amps (unless there's a short somewhere). Car battery would do it. But yes, check the grounds esp. to the frame
