I replaced the stock plastic breather tube with the metal one, can you use the stock plastic spacer or should I get a metal one?The one that sits on the front of it touching the timing cover

On a side note...advantage to replacing plastic breather with metal one. Have my cam cover off to install different cam so just wondering if it makes a difference...or not.
I'v heard that if trash gets in there it can ruin the plastic one,so that's why I replaced it.Just extra insurance..
Cool bluharley, that's what I needed to know!
Well....some would say that the plastic one is sacrfiicial in that trash gets embedded in it and so does not scuzz up the case too badly, whereas a metal one forces the trash into the alloy and ruins it.
The Spanner has his own opinion on this and that is.....if ya got that much trash in ya motor then its already toast.......so I use the plastic ones.
i had a valve spring break on my 85 and it destroyed the plastic breather. the fix was simple...put in another plastic one. if it had been a metal one it would have caused much more damage.

I know there's many differnt thoughts on this subject but I've always thought as Spanners done and trust me if I thought the metal one would help I would have bought it.
