Sounds good. So based on the previous nnumbers my wiring should be good right?

There is nothing wrong with your wiring according to the numbers.

.
.

- update :

- all the suggestions above (cleaning solenoid contacts, direct wire , etc) improved the "click" situation , but then everything went back to its old ways.

- so , solved the entire problem by buying and installing this cheap solution (push button solenoid cover) :

- problem resolved. Starter kicks like hell how.

The only thing adding one of those does is apply full battery voltage to the starter. Just like the additional relay.

If that is what fixed your problem then I would rewire the relay.

I pout one of those on my bike then I found the rewired relay cure and haven't had to use the pushbutton since.

- hi THC,

- I did re-wire the relay , but still got the hesitation (ie , click or sometimes even no click at all). There was alot of pitting on the solenoid's contacts and Perhaps the plunger is not being driven in strongly enough to properly close the starting circuit.

- anyhow , my main objective is a reliable bike on the road. Without any need to worry when shutting the engine down for gas in the middle of nowhere.

- anything unreliable gets old real quick

- thanks again.

I'm glad you got her running right but I'm still trying to figure out the root problem. (For my own edification.)

From what you told me your bike should be starting fine without the pushbutton.

To me it is an interesting quandary.

While I think the push button is a good backup, I think that to fix the original problem a new solenoid (not cleaned up old one) and an extra relay would do it.

I have the button too. And since I wired in the additional relay as per D1gger's instructions, I have not had to use it even a single time. I realize that the Heritage just needs a wiring change to make it right. But I agree with Dr. Hess on the new solenoid.

Hi!

Same here! :-) followed D1gger's instructions (in my case, a single relay wired to the battery) and everything works as expected. I have the button, never needed to use it again since a year ago, when I did the modification.

Cheers,
