Default thought i blew a head gasket...

so after the rebuild and tuning carb properly i was out for a ride and started to hear a chirp coming on here and there.... didn't think much of it, and shut her down then nosed around the engine...didn't see anything

after letting her cool for an hour i started it back up and the chirp was very loud and it was blowing white smoke... a huge puff came out from under the front head as well

... so i start tearing it down and sure enough i got to a head bolt and it was loose... started to retighten and noticed it was clearly stripped....so took it down to case and removed cylinder stud

any suggestions on repair?.... was reading about 'time-serts'

blew 2 out in 6 months because one came along for the ride when i removed 'hidden' bolt, under the head. i used the ballbearing method and red loctite and it has been fine.
i did not strip it like you though. a heli-coil or a time sert will have to do in the aluminum case. i guess you will need to have a 2nd pair of hands to work the vacuum while u drill. you gotta get all those shavings when you tap.

well, the time-sert method seems to be the way to go... pricey things!...but on the better side of it all, at least i'm mechanically inclined and can do all the work myself... saving money there, i suppose

I did the timeserts on my cases for the cylinder bolts, if its the threads in the front its an easy job, back ones are a bit more difficult for drilling.
