Cool Need Throttle and Idle cables for Mikuni HS40

I have a Mikuni HS40 on my 1986 Heritage Softail and have to replace the throttle and idle cables. I need to replace both cables and have the Barnett cable PN#'s.
Barnett PN#101-31-30004 for throttle cable & Barnett PN#101-31-40004. Who can I connect as a dealer that can order these special order from Barnett as they only sell to dealers. I contacted J P Cycles Customer service and got no satisfaction, seemed they didn't want to be troubled with it.

Thanks, Huddle

Have you asked your local dealer for the genuine Harley cables? I don't think Mikuni carbs use specials. I have used stock c/v, Edelbrock, Holley and S&S carbs, all on the same pair of original cables. You may have alternatives! J&P may stock standard cables. As for Barnett, they should be able to give you details of a local stockist. There are tons of new cables on Ebay, including Barnett!

Barnett actually has a special cable for the mikuni hsr carbs due to a slightly different free play length in the cable. I tried stockers, had the adjustments maxed ou just to get it close. I got mine through my local Indy, I think they order a lot of their stuff like that through drag specialities

Early Mikuni's use a different cable than the newer ones. When Harley started offering Mikuni's as an item in their speed and power catalog, they had Mikuni remake the cable bracket so that stock Harley cables would work (they will do this if you order a couple thousand carbs for you too), so that made it possible for them to sell carbs to others as well.
Take the length and look in the major catalogs and you should be able to match something up. Just look at '95 and older as they are screw in and the '96 and later are press in. Hope this helps.

Let me check my cable stash tonight. I 'should' have a set of stainless braided Barnett.

My part numbers are from the store i got them from, they changed them from Barnett's number. Ramjet racing numbers are 6-4296SC+6 & 6-4396SC+6 and these were the cables for HSR 42 on a 96 FLHTC..
If they will work for you.

If the pulley where the cables attach to the carb is on the left,
no one makes a replacement cable in chrome anymore
except custom made cables from Barnett (good luck with that).
I have used a standard length FLH pull cable and made a 1/2"
spacer, then only used the pull (single) cable. I can't find the
notes for that, but if you go thru the Drag catalog with your
measurements then you can get what you need to at least start
this project. I had to route the cable from the carb out to the left
side of upper frame mount because no cables come with the
90* elbow built in.

The Barnett website has a dealer locator....

OEM cables won`t fit, neither will HSR 42 cables.

If you can`t find the Barnett cables, the Motion Pro cables are what came with the carb originally. They are not as beefy as the Barnett cables (and not as expensive).

Motion Pro P/N: 01-0277 (Throttle) 01-0278 (Idle)

Custom Chrome P/N: 24028 (Throttle) 24029 (Idle)
