rear wheel bearing swap?

rear wheel bearing swap?
hey folks,
friend of mine ordered a rear 40 spoke wheel to replace the slotted disk on his 92 evo softail...i told him he couldn't just do that unless it had the tapered bearings... plus, the hubs are different for brake and rotor
sure enough, he got what i believe is a 2005+ wheel... not sure...but it has the 1" bearings
now, i made him aware since receiving the wheel and he says that he intends on chroming out the rotor and pulley, so buying ones to fit the 2000+ hub is fine
next problem is the bearings.... can he simply swap out the 1" bearings and sleeve for the 3/4" inch bearings and sleeve?
...i told him i was certain he could, but now i'm thinking in terms of the outside diameter of the sleeve itself... if the inside diameter is smaller at 3/4 wouldn't the outside diameter be smaller, and thus not fit snug in the hub like the 1" does?

He can do better with the bearings, because those wheels will take 3/4", 1" and 25mm bearings. He will need an installation kit from his local friendly Harley dealer, which will come with bearings, spacer etc, for exactly the purpose of adapting his wheel. Aftermarket Harley wheels are intended to fit a wide range of bikes, hence they make suitable bearing kits. Don't even consider sleeving, as his life is worth more than trying that - unless he is a competent engineer!
He may find he has to make adjustments for his 'new' wheel, as there may be other differences between his bike and a 2005, such as rotor and pulley. His current ones will not fit, as the hole in the centre is not large enough to fit over the new wheel's bearing housing.

was looking at the rim again...and it is indeed a harley wheel...so it looks like all he'll need is the bearings and spacer ('spacer' meaning the piece between the bearings, correct?")
and yes, he's going to need a new rotor and pulley... i'm sure he'll pull them off ebay... from there, it should be fine
however, on my 91 i had to shave 3/8" off the inside of the 2000 pulley so things would fit in the swingarm
