Hey D1gger, If I push the button that's attached to the starter and she turns just fine, what does that tell you?

OK Mr. Smarty pants, why doesn't it turn over the same way when I push the handlebar button?

Great info D1gger. First time I've seen this thread. I have the extra ground cable going to my starter bolt but every now and then it will give the click. It usually happens on a group ride when all the twinkie owners are watching the old evo.

It tells me that your starter is working fine but the extra wiring and connectors as well as the age of the wiring is sapping too much current to the solenoid to allow it to work right. At the very least you should pull the solenoids plunger and clean and grease it good. Adding the relay will also help out a lot.

Hooked up 20 amp fuse in line with the battery and pin thirty. No more click, only leaks left.

Thanks for the fix tips.

For the same reason mine did the same thing. You have an old wiring harness and a little bit of corrosion has built up on all the connections.

When you add the relay you will by-pass the wiring harness and get power directly to the starter.

You will have to add the relay but yes it will work.

All it does is by-pass the stock electrical harness (which routes the power through the ignition switch by way of several electrical connections which are susceptible to corrosion) and gets the power straight from the battery to the starter.

I understud that I just got worried when I didn't see my year bike on your list
With mine being the first year evo I have run into lots of things that didn't list my bike so I had to just try and see if it fit or in this case works for my baby

Thanks
