How do you know when to rebuild carb

Rebuilt mine cause the accelerator pump diaphragm went bad. Figured I might as well see what else was going bad in there, found some fine grit in the bowl , most of the rubber, was bad, she was leaking pretty bad.

Sounds like that $100 gasket kit I bought. Still have more than half of it.............

Most carb. kits may include many bits and pieces that are not used for your particular carb. job. The actual pieces in the kit are so inexpensive to produce that the kit supplier will include them in the kit package and then specify through the instruction sheet , which parts are used in which procedure for which carb. etc.
You sometimes see the same with alt. and starter kits.
Thats why they call them " kits " .
The higher quality kits come with less spare parts as the supplier will provide a more concise order form with more detailed information as to year , model , engine parameters , type of performance you require etc .
