Default Seeking Kick Start Conversion for 5spd. Evo

Has anyone installed a kick start conversion kit on a 5 speed 1990 + S&S 88 CI Evo. motor? Where can I get the kit? Can a novice do the installation? Any tricks or pitfalls? Any changes to the ignition needed?

Do you need to go to a points style? Do you need a magneto? Good strength must be needed to kickstart answer style engine? Yeah yeah I know the '84 softies came OEM with a kicker, but....

I looked into doing this on my 95 Heritage Softail and I found I needed a custom exhaust system to clear the kick. So it really depends on the bike and pipes you have for clearance.

Drag pipes are good for that. Or stock 85 WG, ST, or FXR exhaust since they all had kickers.

If you have problems kicking it, they make a longer arm for the kicker. We used them on the old shovelhead strokers back in the day!!!

A lot of pipes will work...but no manufacturers test to see if they will fit...you have to look at the pics of exhaust and decide for yourself
