Default Front Turn Signals

I hope this isn't considered a dumb question but are the front signals supposed to be always on as with the headlamp? Obviously, I haven't had the bike long as it was a recent gift from my father. One works constantly, both don't flash at this point. I'm already planning on replacing the flasher unit located behind the headlamp on my '88 FLHTC. I would like them only to work when flashing as I don't like the look of the orange lenses and plan on changing them to red to match the bike. In Washington it's illegal to have constant red lighting on the front of a motor vehicle.

The front turn signal bulbs are always on. If you're planning on running red turn signal lenses on the front, I don't believe that's legal.

Yeah, it's not legal. I also just re-checked the bulbs and noticed they are dual filament and figured they were meant to be on all the time. Thanks for confirming, though! Bummed cause I hate amber lights.

Do what I did and change the lenses to clear and run amber bulbs. You don't really see the amber when you're parked, and when you're running, who cares?

Yeah, Uncle G, sounds like my only choice sans removing them all together. I'm going with the smoked turns and fender light and completely removing the reflectors.

I was thinking almost the same thing! Wasn't sure if the single filament alone would work and didn't even think of swapping the wires. Perfect! Thanks!

Don't bitch when someone pulls out in front of you 'cause they can't see you. The more lights the better as far as I'm concerned.

Single and dual element bulbs require different sockets and are not interchangeable.
