Default High or low carb circuit

I have stock 1991 FLT, no modifications. Rebuilt CV carb last winter and no problem. I am starting to get faint smell of gas fumes when when motor under load like going up hill riding two up at 1,500-2,000 rpm. No gas leaks. Would the carb still be on the low speed circuit at this speed. Hoping only needs adjustment a low speed circuit screw. When does it go onto the high speed circuit. Thanks!

1,500-2,000 going uphill two up is too slow, you are probably getting reversion.

That speed is usually turned over to the needle on a CV, if you havn't made any changes and started getting a gas smell, can only claim incomplete combustion and just a guess on putting plugs in it. Can't see why any fuel richness would come in, a float level problem would do it at idle also, my best guess is plugs.
