Default oil routing

so yes, i took my lines off to do some work on bike and like an idiot i didn't take pictures

...here's the diagram....what escapes me is the 'oil tank vent' line and the 'return from filter' line

i know the diagram is a terrible picture, but maybe someone can help me understand what rubber line goes to which nipple on the tank.... even in the diagram it doesn't seem to be clear

i'm guessing that the rubber 'return from filter' line goes to the nipple on the tank that reaches highest in the tank in the diagram (the steel line that bends at a 30 degree angle at the top)?

On my `89, the oil return hose goes to the outboard nipple on the tank.

Vent to the inboard nipple.

Must be plenty out there to look at. Local indy could help out. We've all made similar mistakes.

The outside is for return from filter. The middle is for vent. The inside is for oil pump feed
Thats the routing on my 98 softail

FYI...you constantly hear people say to run your oil level below the full mark, to reduce oil usage or keep it from puking out the vent....that is because they have the return and vent hooked up backwards...hooked up correctly you can run over the full mark with no ill effects.

Which particular elements are you interested in? Line routing or internal passages?
