i have a 96 fxd that i checked the air filter on today and there is gas on the inside of the air filter. its all over the foam on the inside of the stock filter. it also looks like there might be a little oil too. what would be causing this? any help would be greatly appreciated

 

Its called reversion and certain types of pipes (especally drag pipes) can cause it....baffles often fixes it.

 

Ok.. That makes sense.. I have slip ons with no baffles in them I bought it that way.. I put lollipops in them and that helped the decel pop. I guess I still need more though.. I'm buying aftermarket pipes in the near future. Will this cause any damage? Or should I get some baffles or pipes ASAP?

 

Doesn't cause damage....just messy

 

If you went with long pipes & smaller diameter, you would have better balance & breathing in the motor.
the only other issue that can cause this is low compression.
