Thanks for that info, Bagga, and for your patience, HarleyReece. Good luck to you on your fix. I'll update when I get to my "latest" Indie with what he finds and does. Just had a hernia fix so will probably be the Spring before I get to it.

Is the seal between the mainshaft and main drive gear replaceable?

Yes, after you remove the IPB race.

.
If you mean IPB race then yes, there are seals that can only be replaced with the race off.

Is this something I can fix with the trans in the bike? What else will I need besides a new race?

Thanks in advance for your replies and all of your comments.
If....and its a big IF, you can shift the race with a bearing puller then yes, it can be re-aligned....but mostly you have to cut the suckers off, the last 5 I did, 4 had to be cut off.

I'm in the process of cutting the race off now. I plan to use the S&S tapered race.

Can't seem to find the seal in my FSM parts schematic/breakdown, and its not on JP or Dennis site. Just trying to wrap my head around what I need to buy and to to get this fixed.

Another option is to remove the inner race from the mainshaft and install a ball-bearing kit into the inner primary http://zippersperformance.com/catalo...=822&prod=1889.

Spanner can easily give the factory P/N's and details needed for the mod.

Exactly what I've been looking for, thanks 1CdnHD. for some reason the manual skips the seal in the same diagram.

I'll let y'all know how I fair in the next round of repairs. Thanks again to all.

Good luck with yours as well, Tactical111.

You're welcome, here's the link to Ronnie's HD who are kind enough to share their parts 'books'.
