Cheers
The weather doesn't alter your gear ratios.....

I know what you mean.....the higher lift from the cam would cause the oil baked parts of the valve stems to rub the seals huh? I didnt think about that.....thanks for the tip! I've been thinking about possibly pulling the motor soon. I would def wanna go through the whole thing if I do anything at all. I'm trying to budget right now and plan for what all I'll need. I know I'll need a complete gasket set, valve seals, lifters, adj pushrods and cam (if i dont have them,) new bearings, piston rings and possibly pistons.....maybe even valves, springs, and retainers.

I'd love to hear recommendations for the best brand parts and machine work to put into my 80'.......I'm looking for more torque and hp of course but I need reliability and mpg also since she is my daily transportation. I ride in the 45-80 mph range during my commute to work everyday.

Hopefully this is along the same track information you're looking for too BigJay72......

Never said it did, while I do beleive in the laws of expansion and contraction, not quite to that degree My bike runs cooler in the cool weather and @60MPH I am running 2800RPM instead of 3000 in the heat, just reading it off the tach. My point was that if his bike is only running 50MPH @ 3000RPM the PO may have changed the sprockets, gear reduction. Just a thought and I would take the time to count teeth before I through a pile of parts at the bike. Just a thought.
