Default Bike sprung a major leak

Went for a nice leisurely 200 mile ride yesterday, no probs at all till I got 30 miles from home. Stopped to see a umm friend, came out of her house and my primary was leaking like crazy. Has never leaked a drop before. Thot it was coming out of the drain screw but no such luck.. Not loose even though that is where it was running down and dripping from that area. How big a deal is it to change the seal on the Trans shaft where it goes into the primary? And what else should I check, look for etc.

Is it the primary leaking or transmission leaking? That's the nice thing about using three different types of fluid for each hole.

I were to bet it is the transmission seal behind the pulley. Not hard to change, just takes time taking off all the other stuff off to get there. Then, you have to find a suitable puller to remove the seal.

Default Leak

I am pretty sure it is the primary, mainly for that reason, I am running HD lube in the trans and type f atf in the primary. Either way gotta be done. Hopefully its not cracked cause finding a replacement might be hard

I had a similar problem.

Ended up being the bolts that secure the primary chain tensioner inside the primary cover had come loose, allowing the oil to leak out the back.

I imagine you could check that by removing the primary chain inspection cover and seeing if the tensioner feels solidly attached.
