I've been using the Harley filters for 6 years now on four different Harleys. Not a single problem with the filters. Of course, I change my fluids every 5K miles religiously.

Yep. Harley filter: just make sure that pimply faced kid behind the counter gives you an EVO filter not a TC filter.

EDIT: PS: I change my oil every 3000, religiously.

YES, there is a difference. And I may be opening a can of worms here, but don't let anyone tell you that you that one filter fits all: TC & EVO. While they may physically fit, there is a different micron rating (filtering ability which affects flow) and drain back valve. Here are the EVO HD numbers:

Black 63805-80A
Chrome 63796-77A
Chrome 63813-90T (Extended Capacity)

If you have a Harley filter that is not one on the above, it's not a 30 micron.

They are available, and a decent dealer stocks the correct filter or they are available on line.

There are numerous threads that link to references citing the differences.

Surprisingly, the most economical choice for me is an HD filter from my local dealer for $6.95.

There is an interesting (and long) oil filter article here.
