Bike slowly died out while ridding... now wont start
Hey guys, im new to the forum. Just picked up my first harley/first streetbike. its an 85 Electra Glide. Been sitting for 3 yrs. Bought a new batt, rebuilt the carb, cleaned tank and replaced fuel lines, etc. Finally the bike fired up, did an oil change, and road it for 4 hrs. Then just slowly lost power and died out on the road. PPl said it was a coil or bad plug wires... went out and picked some up.. yes stonger spark than the old unit, but the bike will not fire up. just kakung-kakung-kakung and nothing. Just draining the crap out of my batt. Pretty pissed and want to ride. Any ideas.... Could it be my ignition module or a bad batt..?
Thanks
Matt

its getting fuel into the carb np, i can see the spray from the jet. I took the whole thing apart. I also tried using a spray of starter fluid in there as well, and no fire. It turns over w the plugs in, just wont fire up.
The bike just slowly died out, no backfire or coughing, etc. felt like it ran out of gas. the plugs have spark, puld them out and set them to the cylinger head, but it is an uneven spark. Is this normal?

And compression, do a compression test.
I've had a lot of dirtbikes melt a ring to the piston and that's exactly what they did. Just cruising along and starts to bog and dies. It's not so likely that this is your problem since the other cylinder should have still been firing fine and it would be more of a miss than a total shut down.
