Default 1986 FLSTC Speedo

HI I have a 1986 harley FLSTC and my speedo shows me how fast I'm going but doesn't put the miles on. How can I correct this will I have to buy a new speedo?

Thanks

Happened to mine at about 104,000 miles. I think there's a plastic gear inside which cracks and then spins on the shaft. I say "think", because there's no easy way top take the speedo apart (at least there isn't if you expect it to work again). I ended up buying a new speedometer. It was a chance to grab one of those cool "retro" styles from the aftermarket.
